Vote for Environment: We are the majority
I’ve changed this article, thanks to feedback from ‘jamthebruce’ (see comments below).
I actually thought that Avaaz was started in Canada, but I stand to be corrected. More importantly (thanks to Jam’s insights), it’s apparent that the notion of ‘vote splitting’ and ‘voting strategically’ is a bit of a tempest in a teapot that does more harm to NDP and Green voters than it does Liberals.
Obviously, this is disturbing to me because it reinforces the notion that you simply have to finally and absolutely vote with the party that you favour and would prefer to see in office. Strategic voting ceases to make sense when things like party funding formulas are concerned.
For those who are curious, here’s my original post:
I’ve been wrestling with this issue quite a bit andlike what I see with this site:
Even if you disagree with what they have to say, they do provide a substantial amount of information that I haven’t been able to get elsewhere, including the most recent and hopefully accurate polling data (although calling poll data reliable is a stretch).
(PS: for those of you who posted links to this site, thank you).
including the most recent and hopefully accurate polling data (although calling poll data reliable is a stretch),
Well that is interesting, because yesterday I went into Central Nova and started clicking on back polling. Interesting it showed at different times Lorifice ahead of McKay, and than May and Lorifice neck to neck. Why that is interesting, is that every couple of days, I have gone to this site, these daily polls always showed McKay ahead (by alot), Lorifice 2nd, and May 3rd.
so the question becomes, why would these sames polls (in the past) now show different results. That is disturbing, considering that democraticSPACE has consistently had same polls and have never shown these vagaries.
Another thing and you should be concerned when this site is promoting an foreign entity (avaaz.org),to influence the outcome of our election. Go read this article at NOW http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/story.cfm?content=165214 and see on votefortheenvironment that they are a part of votefortheenvironment, a partner in crime, although this is against the Canadian Election Act, legal issues – who donates is hidden from view.
Goggle Approved by the Financial Agent for Kevin Grandia and his close liberal ties at the provincial and federal level.
Go back and see who Avaaz are supporting – “goal of unseating three Conservative MPs, some of whom are Canada’s worst – pugnacious do-nothing environment minister John Baird, flirtatious-to-save-his-job Nova Scotian hunk Peter MacKay and little-known BC Conservative Randy Kamp.”
Why a little unknown who is small fish is where they are supporting the NDP candidate. I’m sure how the NDP candidate is doing but if past results are any indication, this same NDP candidate came close both times, so why do NDP need outside influence to beat this CON. I would say they don’t and this was just a bone to throw off anybody complaining to elections Canada of making any waves about illegal third party influence.
Now let’s go to Central Nova where May has been running a poor 3rd to McKay and Lorifice and Avaaz and vote for environment have continually said vote May, where all counter indicators would objectively say that the NDP should be getting the nod.
I think you need to be careful what you are promoting cause the reality is that strategic voting sites have always been pushed by liberals and not so much by NDP. Here’s why: http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/story.cfm?content=165211 – Libs come begging again.
