Kite relayed the story about Sasha Pigeon to Chaos and Hummus.
“With friends like that …” Chaos started.
“Yeah, I know,” Kite answered. “You need not say more. I tell you, this assignment is getting to be more and more bizarre. I used to do simple lift gigs from corporation to corporation, but this is starting to feel ugly on a lot of levels.”
Kite had reconvened with his partners back at the hotel room after meeting with Pigeon and he was bringing them up to speed on his feedback about Eddie.
“No kidding, boss,” Hummus offered. “The loonies are definitely running the bin on this one. You’re going to have to be really careful on this on.”
“Geez man. Why does everyone keep telling me that?” Kite complained.
“Maybe it’s because you’re a little … uh … punchy sometimes?” Hummus suggested.
“Sure fine. I’m not perfect. OK. I’ll watch my back. I understand.”
“See … we’re just trying to help,” Chaos joked.
“I told you, I get it,” Kite said smiling with his left arm pushing downwards like he was giving the universal signal for ‘chill dudes’. “That said, let’s focus on what we’ve got to do.”
“No problem, boss. Here’s the scoop. With Pigeon’s info, we’ve got carte blanche on pretty much everything in the building. You’re going to have to get something close to the meeting room, which could be a problem because they’ll probably cover that little soiree a little tighter than a G8 meeting. Expect lots of dudes hanging around in black jackets and blacker shades. You know … the Agent Smith types,” Hummus said referring to his personal favourite movie series The Matrix .
“Yeah, that’s a given, so let’s talk about what they story’s going to be,” Kite requested.
“We rely on two universal traits with almost all companies, to the point of being ridiculously stereotypical. Technology issues and bureaucracy. We need to set up a basic letter or permit for access during the evening hours and make sure it’s from someone high enough so it can’t be ignored by any guards. Next, you’re gonna have to have a legit tech issue with the server or network system that can convince them that it’s got to be addressed on Saturday PM instead of Monday morning.”
“I’ve got that covered boss,” Chaos suggested. “On Friday afternoon, you can set up a series of viral and worm problems that will take care of security issues with Vista. You can launch them from any computer. Once that’s incorporated, you can claim it’s an emergency and get your ass inside.”
“Cool,” Kite mused. “So, just to make sure we’re on track, I’ll need to bug the network late enough in the day to ensure that we can’t do anything that night, but then appear on Saturday in the early afternoon, work through the set up of the meeting and get out before the meeting adjourns.”
“That’s pretty much it. Now all we have to do is get a recorder on someone going to the meeting so that we can listen in properly. Do that, and it’s mission accomplished.”
“Great. Eddie will be a great option.”
