Welcome to the Carbon Broadcasting Corporation
Canada’s beloved Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has become a very important promotional platform for …
The carbon industry.
In just a few days, I’ve seen multiple articles about carbon-based energy, something we’re all in desparate need to forget about.
Examples:
- Energy security concerns and surging prices could give coal industry a new lease on life
- Demand for minerals used in electric vehicles, wind, solar power a boon for B.C.’s mining industry
It pains me to see our public broadcaster being nothing more than a PR division for mining and resource extraction all the while ignoring that the International Energy Association has identified that solar (and other renewable energy formats) are BY FAR cheaper and carry less environmental weight than any carbon-based industry.
I know that the intent of the second article is to zero in on how many renewable industries rely on natural resources. I get that. But we already have known volume of commodities being thrown out every day.
Where’s the message of recycling?
Where’s the message of re-using and reducing?
Remember those … THREE Rs?
Boom times are certainly ahead, but maybe … just maybe … we should investigate the mountains of existing waste and landfills that we’ve created over the last 100 years instead of ripping open more mountains in the quest for wasteful carbon.
