More Examples of White Privilege?

Of course, don’t get me started on the array of ‘pardons’ that Trump has pushed down the pipe. Nothing says ‘friends in high places, so I can do no wrong’ like having a President excuse you for murder, extortion and other criminal behaviour. That includes the recent pardon of four Blackwater employees that murdered civilians in Afghanistan.

Maybe Biden should consider eliminating the Presidential privilege of pardoning all of their corrupt buddies.

Speaking of white privilege, how about the case of Lori Loughlin and her early release from prison, having served only two months for crimes that would have earned anyone else years behind bars?

Or … the ultimate case of Anthony Quinn Warner, the ageing white male behind the terrorist attacks in Nashville, where local police say ‘they may never know the motive behind the bombing’. Yeah … because he’s a f*cking terrorist and terrorists are typically illogical and maniacal. But … because he’s WHITE and MALE, he gets a ‘get out of jail free’ (possibly quite literally) when it comes to how the media describes him.

A neighbour and witness said he casually asked, “Is Santa going to bring you anything good for Christmas?”

Warner smiled and said, “Oh, yeah, Nashville and the world is never going to forget me,” Laude recalled.

Another 3-named psychopath determined to make himself famous for killing other people. Just don’t label him a terrorist.

The Only Thing Trickling On Us Is …

Well, you can guess.

Bloomberg reports that the concept of ‘trickle down economics’ – a theory of wealth redistribution – is a complete falsehood.

The theory was perpetuated during the early 1980s by Reaganites like Arthur Laffer (who’s ‘Laffer Curve’ is equally not funny and doesn’t live up to its name, unless we accept that the last laugh is on us) who drastically reduced corporate taxes and shifted the burden to individuals that couldn’t afford hikes in taxes or to future generations in the form of insane levels of government debt.

Tax cuts for rich people breed inequality without providing much of a boon to anyone else, according to a study of the advanced world that could add to the case for the wealthy to bear more of the cost of the coronavirus pandemic.

The paper, by David Hope of the London School of Economics and Julian Limberg of King’s College London, found that such measures over the last 50 years only really benefited the individuals who were directly affected, and did little to promote jobs or growth.

“Policy makers shouldn’t worry that raising taxes on the rich to fund the financial costs of the pandemic will harm their economies,” Hope said in an interview.

It’s about time we accept the reality that the rich need to start paying their fair share for this social, economic, environmental and even psychological mess that they’ve left for the rest of the planet to wrestle with.

Let’s start with Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, to name a few.

Almost Anything Yields a Positive …

An Italian doctor tested his PCR kit to make sure it was working.

Well, maybe it was working a little TOO well. It seems pretty much anything yields a positive Covid result, including a kiwi. Yes, a piece of fruit.

See for yourself …

In other Covid-related news, the World Health Organization has put an end to a millions-of-years old possibility of naturally acquired immunity with the stroke of a pen. I’m glad to know the WHO no longer thinks I have an immune system. At least some other people think it’s still important.

But then, without an immune system, how does a vaccine work? My head is spinning …

Some Good News …

There was news last week that an anti-diarrhoea drug may actually kill cancer cells more effectively than any other treatment to date.

This is VERY exciting news for people who are suffering from cancer and who desparately want a cure.

The treatment essentially ‘teaches’ cancer cells to digest themselves. Wicked!
