Unite the Left – Lloyd Axworthy

I’m always loathe to quote from Canwest Media, but Lloyd Axworthy posted this op-ed in the Ottawa Citizen that you might be interested in. I have issue with the notion that the opposition parties have to unite, mainly because their views are too disparate.  As I’ve said before, this is the inevitable ‘long tail’ of politics, where fragmentation of power occurs as a result of […]

The Power of the Internet and the End of Rovian Politics

This is an inspirational piece .  I read it with glee.  Before reading below, here’s a great example of what Ms. Huffington is talking about. The only challenge is fragmentation.  In Canada, during the last election, the number of activist causes, groups, campaigns […]

Why NAFTA Sucks: DOW to Sue Canada for anti-pesticide laws

Original story here from Canadian Newswire. This story is a little hard to figure out, but it seems like DOW, the company that gave us Bhopal and Napalm, is suing the government of Canada through a backdoor policy with NAFTA known as ‘Chapter 11’.  Apparently, with Chapter 11, companies that are ‘wrongfully’ affected by the legislation of any Canadian body can seek damages. I did […]
